Jeondeungsa, Ganghwa

Jeondeungsa is one of the oldest temple in Ganghwa area. The name Jeondeungsa, which means donation of lantern is being used after the Queen of King Chungyeol donated a precious jade lantern to the temple.

Jeondeungsa is a superlative example of the architecture of mid-Joseon Dynasty. Some of the historical significance are such as Daeungbojeon, Yaksajeon, Beomjong Bell, and Yangheonsu Victory Monument. This temple is also home fore many ancient trees. The eldest one is 600 over years old.

Besides that, Jeondeungsa also provides temple stay program during the weekends. The program includes learning temple etiquette, performing sen meditation, having a dialogue with monk, and doing chores.
