Gahoe Folk Art Museum, Bukchon

Gahoe Folk Art Museum is a small, cozy Korean traditional house in Bukchon. It acts as a permanent and special exhibition hall where you can enjoy their collection, a workshop where you can be the artist, and a modern space open to academic classes and scholars who wants to learn more. Their collections includes 750 pieces of Korean folk art, 800 amulets, 150 relics, 250 shamanistic paintings, and 150 folk objects.

Korean folk art is actually a genre painting that represents the general public's ordinary lives, desires, religious beliefs, and education. Simultaneously, it was also used to decorate the home, celebrating weddings and birthday parties.

There are 4 main types of painting, which are painting of flowers and birds (Hwajodo), painting of marine life (Uhhaedo), painting of bookshelves (Chaekgeori, Chaekgado), and painting of characters (Munjado).
